Cedar Lake Cellars-Cabernet Sauvigon 2008

 As I’ve mentioned once or twice, a solid red wine is one of my favorite cigar pairings.  At our recent Launch Event, Cedar Lake Cellars was kind enough to come out and pour samples of their fantastic wines.  Their Cabernet Sauvigon was definitely a wine that I particularly enjoyed pairing with the Fellowship.  Smoother and slightly lighter than some Cabernets that you might try, the Cedar Lake version of this classic wine strikes a balance between fruit and tannins.  The earthy, leathery notes in our Fellowship cigar are simultaneously accented by the tannic character of the wine and contrasted by the berry nuances.  Additionally, the cedar that comes through the wine is echoed in the Fellowship blend.  Overall a pairing that I hope to repeat…often.
